Sweetie Project generates interest in UK

UK law enforcers are very interested in the technology currently being developed for the follow-up to the Sweetie Project.

There is a lot of interest from law enforcement agencies in England and Scotland in the Sweetie project, particularly in the application of digital images of children or avatars to undercover operations. So far the Sweetie Project team has met with specialized police departments in Glasgow, Stevenage and Norfolk to present Sweetie 2.0 (follow-up to Sweetie) which has as its objectives the development and implementation of a strategy to discourage and warn off potential child offenders on the internet. Undercover police officers tracking paedophiles on the internet are encountering increasing difficulties in maintaining their cover as minors online and as the use of pictures of existing children is obviously prohibited, the Sweetie Project's experience with avatars is regarded as a new advance and is therefore of great interest.
